    tiptop looks like top but its columns come from the CPU's hardware performance counters: instructions per cycle (IPC), cache misses, and branch mispredictions per process.

    sudo dnf -y install tiptop        # or apt-get install tiptop

    Low IPC (well below 1) on a "busy" process means the CPU is stalling, often on memory. High cache-miss rates back that up. It relies on perf_event access, so it may need root or a relaxed kernel.perf_event_paranoid, and does not see counters inside most virtual machines. For deeper analysis use perf.
