Newsbeuter is unmaintained. Its author archived the project and pointed users to Newsboat, a maintained fork that is command-line and config-file compatible. Use Newsboat for any new setup; the configuration below applies to both.

Newsbeuter/Newsboat is a terminal RSS/Atom reader, described by its author as "the mutt of RSS feed readers": fast, keyboard-driven, and highly configurable.

sudo dnf install newsboat # or apt-get install newsboat

Configure feeds

mkdir -p ~/.newsboat
vi ~/.newsboat/urls
https://example.com/feed.xml
https://another-site.example/rss "tech"

The optional quoted text after a URL is a tag, used for grouping feeds.

newsboat

Inside: press t and pick a tag to view only that group's feeds; r reloads a feed; Enter opens an article; o opens the article's link in your browser; q quits.

If migrating from Newsbeuter, copy ~/.newsbeuter/urls and ~/.newsbeuter/config to ~/.newsboat/ — the formats are compatible.
