dstat combined vmstat, iostat, and network stats into one colourised, time-based table. The original upstream project (dstat-real/dstat) became inactive. Two successors exist:

    • pcp-dstat — shipped by the Performance Co-Pilot project. On RHEL 9 and Fedora the dstat command is provided by the pcp-system-tools package (see pcp).
    • dool — a community fork of the original: scottchiefbaker/dool.

Typical use (the same options work in all three):

dstat -cdngy 1 # cpu, disk, net, paging, system interrupts/context switches, every second
dstat -tcmd --top-cpu --top-io 5 # timestamps, cpu, memory, disk, plus the top CPU and I/O process
    dstat --output stats.csv 1 60 # write CSV for a minute
