Redis Overview

Redis is an open source, BSD-licensed, advanced key-value cache and store — often called a data structure server, since keys can hold strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets, bitmaps, and HyperLogLogs, not just plain values. Reference: redis.io.

Install

sudo aptitude -y install redis-server
# or, on RPM-based distros:
sudo yum -y install redis

Back up the default config before making changes:

cp /etc/redis/redis.conf{,.orig}
