dvdrip is an older Perl/Gtk graphical front end for ripping and transcoding DVDs (driving transcode under the hood).

Status: the project has been inactive for a long time and is missing from many current distribution repositories. For ripping and transcoding today, HandBrake (GUI and HandBrakeCLI) is actively maintained, has hardware-accelerated encoding, and is the practical recommendation. dvdbackup (see dvdbackup) remains a good choice for a straight, lossless copy of the disc structure rather than a transcode.
